Plein-Air Picnics at Tangled Garden

Afternoon Picnics in the Garden

Plein-Air Picnics are a unique and charming choice for an intimate culinary experience in the beautiful Annapolis Valley…

Whatever reason you have to celebrate or relax, you will be delighted by an idyllic garden picnic experience and our excellent attention to detail. In the heart of our five-acre garden overlooking the Bay of Fundy, fresh-cut flowers adorn the tables, songbirds flit through the shady trees, and earthy aromas will tantalize your senses as you enjoy afternoon tea and home-made treats individually packed into hand-woven picnic baskets. All elements of our picnics are freshly crafted in our own kitchens.

Our upcoming season opens on June 21 - Sept. 15, 2024. Plein Air picnics will be available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, rain or shine. On Saturday & Sunday only in September.

Reservations open mid-March for the 2024 season.

Reservations

Tangled Garden’s Plein-Air Picnics are now by online reservation only!

Instead of jostling for our coveted Tea Room tables, ensure your private tables in advance by completing the following steps:

  1. Elect one of your party to be the lead organizer. This person will make the reservation and menu selections on behalf of all guests.

  2. The lead organizer clicks on the Reserve Now button below to be redirected to our booking app, where they will select the picnic date and pay a $10 booking deposit* per guest (which will be applied against the final bills).

  3. Once the reservation is confirmed, the lead organizer will receive an emailed link to our menu and will be asked to complete a menu selection for each guest in attendance. If you cannot locate your menu selection email, you can make your basket selections here.

  4. Upon arrival at the Tea Room, your party will pick up their hand-woven picnic baskets and be guided to your private table. Parking for the picnics is located at the back entrance of Tangled Garden (on Old Post Road). Once parked, meander down the main pathway to the Tea Room (please do not use our retail shop parking on Highway 1 as it’s too small to accommodate everyone).

  5. The remaining payment of the final bills (less the $10 booking deposit: $8.70 plus HST) is made on-site after you have enjoyed your picnic. Cheques can be split however desired.

*Please note that the $10 booking deposit (of $8.70 + HST) is non-refundable. See below (Frequently Asked Questions) for more information about cancellation and rebooking.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, it does!

  • We have indoor and covered spaces available in case of inclement weather. You will still be able to feel fresh breezes and smell the garden’s bouquets without getting rained on, and you are welcome to wander the garden after finishing your treats (we have umbrellas of many colours). If the weather is looking so bad that we don’t think your experience will be enjoyable, we will send notice of cancellation and you will be given an option to rebook or have your deposit refunded.

  • No, not at this time. We are currently offering the picnic basket options above by reservation only on the dates given.

  • Yes! These choices will be available when you fill out the menu selection forms.

  • The baskets are designed for a single person. While babes-in-arms will not be counted as separate guests, we guarantee that healthy children will have no problem finishing the contents of their very own basket.

  • You can rebook a new date for no extra charge up to 48 hours before your picnic is scheduled to begin. Tangled Garden Staff will switch your dates for you, please do not cancel your previously reserved booking.

However, the administrative booking fee of $10 is non-refundable unless the picnic is cancelled by us; for example, in the case of severe weather (see previous question).

  • Yes, if you can let us know beforehand, it will help us choose the appropriate table. We ask that your (friendly, well-behaved) dog remains on a leash at all times and that you clean up any “gifts” they may leave behind.

  • If your guests’ number changes, please call us, and we will try to accommodate your request.

“This is a beautifully unique shop with products made on site. A stop at their new tea house is a 'must'. The offerings were deliciously unique and highlighted the herbs and plants grown in their gardens.”
